which make me realize that the things I studied for the NLE are slowly slipping away from my memory

Day off?
None. Wala. Waay gid. Hanado opsoyo.

And I need time with my family.

I'm not complaining that I'm tired. I'm just saying that I'm tired. There's a difference.

I know we weren't really close, but just being a part of your life is enough for me. I am so happy that I saw you this year, that I got to say "I love you" when you can still see me, hear me, and feel me. You were a blessing to everyone you met and knew. I don't have to tell the world how wonderful you were because those who knew you already realized that, and those who didn't know you will just feel sorry for themselves. :)

I never thanked you for giving me my mama, so let me do this now.
Thank you for my mama, She may not be perfect, but she's still the best for me. She is very sad right now, but it's just that she misses you already. But don't worry about her, okay? We will take care of your Teppen.

Finally. Panic at the Disco came here. I still can't believe most of the bands I love had a show in Manila this year (and to think the year hasn't ended yet).

I went to see them at the Podium for their signing last Wednesday. Sadly, that was the closest distance that Ryan Ross and I had. It makes me sad. I waited so long for ~~him~~ them! Hahaha!

I totally loved them live. Even though I was really pissed off because of the effin' bouncers, the night was still one of those nights you would want to replay on your head. Speaking of the bouncers: aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggghhhh!!! I so hate every single one of those bulky men in yellow. They were okay last Click concert. What happened? It was like Martial Law in the Big Dome. No standing in seats. NO staying in the aisles?! ABSURD! I mean come on! Gahd, give us a break! We want to lose ourselves, yet we can't! :( They even told me to turn off my camera! Twice! By different bouncers! They thought it was a videocam! Shame on them!

Anyway. They sang 17 songs, as far as I can recall anyway. I didn't write the songs down during the concert (I mean, how could I? I was dancing and singing away. Haha!), but I looked at their albums when I arrived home and figured which songs they sang. So, if anyone can add to the songs I could remember, please tell me and I'll add it to the list. I can remember that 'We're So Starving' was first, 'Nine in the Afternoon' was second, and that 'Mad As Rabbits' was the last song. Here are the songs they sang in random :

I'm more than happy with their set list. I just hope they could've sang 'When The Day Met The Night' and 'She Had The World' and I would've gone to heaven. As expected, the concert was a bit subdued compared to their shows in the US. No acrobats, no dancers, just pure Panic music. Brendon was super. I especially love his 'Time To Dance' solo. And who can forget "I never said I'd leave Manila, I never said I'd leave Philippines"? Two lines: that's all it takes to make everyone go crazy. And Ryan... *melts*. He's my vampire. I own him. Even his speaking voice can melt me into oblivion. Hahaha! He was just so cute. Waving every now and then. Waaaaah.

I really hope they come back here. Even though they sang a LOT of songs last night, I'm craving for more Panic. I planned to see Ryan Ross up close, and I didn't achieve that during their stay here. So they better come back! Demanding? Haha!

I lost my voice -- a sure sign that I enjoyed the night. :)

Again, it's been a while. I'm still stuck at home. I still think of my students every once in a while. Well, it's hard not to.

On a new obsession:
You may think I'm really busy since I haven't been blogging for a very long time, but no, it's actually the opposite. I've been stuck in front of the TV and the computer. I watch a lot of DVD's these past few weeks. I've seen a handful of Korean movies, and also a few Asian dramas like My Girl, Romantic Princess, and Hana Kimi (Tw). I'm still looking for a lot more... along Quiapo or near Makati Med. Hahaha!

I think "Windstruck" is better than "My Sassy Girl". Eh... Just my sentiments. (^_^)v I saw the trailer of the Hollywood version for "MSG" and... Jun JiHyun rocks waaaaaaaaaay more! Hahaha!

It's been so long since I've watched an Asian drama. The last time was Meteor Garden. Hehe. (*^_^*) I was totally into Vic Zhou back then. And yeah, he still is hot until now. Haha! Anyway, now it's with Goh Kiat Chun, more popularly known as Wu Chun. \(♥_♥)/ It's thanks to him that I watch Asian dramas (and sing Chinese songs I cannot understand) again. I think it was late last May when I saw an ad for Romantic Princess and that's when it started. I knew I just had to research on him ~ God's gift. Aggh. So perfect. Anyway, I missed seeing him and Calvin Chen when they came here. Ayoko makipagsapalaran. Baka mamatay ako! Haha! But I really hope I get to see Fei Lun Hai when they come here. They're all pretty cute. Oppa! ^_^

There's also a certain reality show on KBS world (Ch. 75 on Sky Cable) that I'm hooked on. Thanks to my former student, Angela. It's really funny and pretty interesting. Especially when you like traveling and having a good time. I'm plugging!~ You can watch "2 Days and 1 Night" every Thursday at 3PM and replays every Friday at 9PM! It has subs, don't worry!

On this month's Sponge Cola gig:
Last July 12, we went to SaGuijo. We took our cousin to watch a Sponge Cola gig. He was set to go back to Bacolod on July 13, so it was sort of a farewell gift for him. The set was short. The night was nevertheless memorable. It's my first time to see Yael's new guitar. Super bait ni Yan.

Hi. I'm still here.

Tons of things have happened during the end of May and during the start of June. My mind has been very disorganized and I feel lost more than ever.

Last May 30, I saw The Click Five live. I got a chance to meet and greet the guys, courtesy of SugarSugar Magazine. It's a long story, but why not? I'll tell it anyway... because well, this is my blog. Haha!

Anyway, I joined a contest of the said magazine. I had to make birthday cards for Kyle and Joey (of The Click Five of course) because they celebrate their birthdays during the month of May, and I had a chance to watch the group's concert for free and also meet and greet the guys. And whatdyaknow? I won.

I gave Joey and Kyle's cards personally during the meet and greet. Joey was just awesome. Kyle was sweet and funny.

On June 6-12, my family went to my hometown in Bacolod to visit my grandmother. During that time, we also went to Iloilo to visit my other relatives. It's been 13 years since we visited those places, but the primary reason why we were there because of my very sick grandma. But not to worry, she's quite okay as of now.

And because of that long "vacation", I was terminated at work... And the sad thing was, I couldn't do anything to keep my job. My first ever work experience was amazing, though it ended quite badly. God knows how long I've spent thinking about work and missing my students and friends. It's also sad that I seemed to disappoint my team leader and our operations manager --- both have been really dear to me. Everytime I get to think of my students, when I replay our conversations before, and I remember how sweet and amazing they can be, I cry!!! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! I miss them so very, very much. T_T

Everything just makes me very sad. They just became a part of me that I can't seem to let go. And it's my fault that I keep thinking about them, I guess.

I'm feeling kind of lost. I don't know what my plans are a few months from now. Should I continue working? Sometimes, I hate work and sometimes I enjoy it. Should I quit and review for the NCLEX? Should I find a job at a hospital? I don't know. As I told you earlier, I really feel lost. I don't feel any contentment in what I am doing.

I took my oath as a nurse last March 17. It was boring and a complete waste of time and money, but I think it still was a special event for me.

My lola's sick. She's been in the hospital for about a week now. She is out of the ICU, but she's still not getting any better. My mother went home to Bacolod last Monday to be with her.

I need a gig.

Aaaaaaaaaaahhh!!!

Intro palang, fangirl na fangirl na. Hahaha! And don't blame me. If you were there last night, you would know why I love Maroon 5 so much. I've loved them since "Harder To Breathe" and I was so happy when 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long' came out because I missed their music.

If I would start raving about Adam Levine, this post would be filled with adjectives befitting this guy. So let's not go there. Hahaha!

For me, the highlights of that night are: 1) the guitar solos of James Valentine, which made my palms numb from clapping so hard; 2) the filler of Matt Flynn, he was definitely having fun with his weapon of choice; 3) Adam Levine counting in tagalog: isa, dalawa, tatlo, apat! Adorable! 4) Adam smiling at the crowd when Araneta sang the chorus of "Won't Go Home Without You" and when he left everyone hanging with "She Will Be Loved"; and 5) Adam Levine's guitar solo at the end of the concert which made me cry.

I cried because he was effing a-maaaay-zing. I cried because it's over and because I finally saw them live. I cried because the band is made of a variety of awesome.

I hope they come back.

70's Bistro Gig --- Feb. 18

This post is long overdue, but I need to rave about this. I tried not to be a fangirl when I wrote this down days ago, but here you go, these came out.

When the February gig schedule was posted in the mailing list, I was ecstatic that there were a quite a few bar gigs this month. So I immediately informed my sister and a friend to choose which one we'll watch. We settled on February 18. 70's Bistro. A Monday. I have work, but I believed that it will turn out okay. I suppose most bar gigs start late at night, right? Yeah. Right.

So, I was counting down the days. After every shift, there's always a sigh of relief that I was another day closer to the gig.

I really had no worries until the day, February 18, came. I asked Chris what time they'll perform that day, and I told him I was worried that I won't be able to catch their set. The reply came: 10pm pa naman. =) Shit. WTF?!!! TEN PEE EM?! I still have four classes after 10PM! Syempre di yan ang reply ko... Hahaha! Then I panicked, I even seriously thought of not coming to work that night. It may seem shallow, but I tell you, I have waited soooooooo long for this seemingly perfect gig. Everything's planned, and we even have Chris's gift. And then this happened! I wanted to scream until I lose my voice, then I had a reason to skip work! Hahaha!

Anyway, I didn't have the excuse to be absent. I went to work. I called up my students 30 seconds earlier than the actual time (sssssshhhh... secret yan ha) so that I can finish everything earlier.

I felt bad that shift. I was itching to go out and go straight to Bistro since my sister and friend who were already there kept sending me updates (ie. "Gosh is here." "Chris was looking for you." "They'll be playing at 10pm." "It's a 45 minute set." "Yael talked to us for about 15 minutes, he was here at our table." "Umalis ka na diyan!!!" and the legendary: "So..."). Needless to say, my students were talking to a zombie that night. If for every curse I uttered that night, a soul in hell would be saved, than hell would be vacant by now. I even felt so mad at my pasaway student because I kept on thinking, "I chose you over Sponge Cola?!" Hahaha!

There you go, 11PM finally arrived. I hailed a cab, it took me 20 minutes to get there. Sponge Cola was done performing. :( Sad. But I felt fine, nevertheless. I was there and I just wanted to enjoy the night. I got to talk to a few listers that I haven't seen in a long time.

Aaaaaaaah! I love them!!! Someone from YouTube made a comment that they're just like The Killers: a very strong first album, and a weak sophomore one. Well, I haven't heard the rest of Pretty. Odd. yet, but from the sound of Nine In The Afternoon, I think they'll be just fine. They sound happier though, fine by me. :)

I had a long time off from work last week, and I spent it reading. Maybe that's why I haven't written here in a pretty long while. I'm currently reading "The Color Purple", which is breaking my heart every chapter, and now I'm looking for the movie version of this book.

Let me tell you something about my three favorite students.

I have this student (let's call her J). She's 12 years old, and she likes english very much. She is one of my favorite students. Unlike my other students, who are kind of bratty, she is very enthusiastic about learning and speaking the language. She's only 12, and she has traveled in more than a dozen countries. She is also learning how to speak Chinese. Needless to say, I am very impressed with her and I always look forward to our ten-minute classes.

While talking with J This evening, I was doing my usual closing spiel.

Me: Do you have any questions for me today, J?
J: Uh... Teacher? I'm just curious. Are you American or Filipino? (The students are aware that the
instructors they have are from the Philippines)
Me: I'm Filipino. Why do you ask?
J: Oh, it's because you know so much about America... (we touched on 9/11 during our lesson) And because you sound like one.
Me: 0.o (anak ng katol. ano daw?!)
Me: (naka-recover) hahahaha! Thanks! Really? Thanks! (more mumbles of 'thanks' ensues. Gahd, may effect yung twang-twangan ko! May bunga siya!)

I have this other student (let's call him B), and I am also very fond of him. B likes sniggering. He's a happy person. I like him because he gives much thought to his answers. You always know that he's thinking about his answers because when you ask him a deep question, he'll say "hmmmmm" first before starting his explanation. Di lang basta-basta sumasagot. Favorite niya yung topic about love (he's 16). Pano ko alam? Kasi dumudoble yung sniggers and giggles niya kapag ang topic ay tungkol sa pag-ibig. Tonight, I asked him about terrorism and gambling. Tambling ako sa sagot. Meron din naman grammatical errors and he has some difficulty finding the right words to express himself, but really, I want to clap my hands when I heard his opinions. He made me proud.

The last student that I like (among 13 students that I handle within four hours) is Y. Y is emo. And sometimes, I want to give him a hug. He's 16 and he gives very mature and practical answers. I think they were very wealthy once, because he always mentions his childhood like it is the ideal life that everyone should have. But now, in almost every lesson that we have, he regards money as if that would make him whole and un-emo. If only I was in a position to give him an advice, I'd tell him to cheer up and there are much more things in life that he should be thankful for.

Thinking about these students who were once insignificant to me, and thinking about how you can make a sensible conversation with these people that you don't even know makes me feel that all the effort that I've been putting into this job is all worth it.

I need a gig. And by the way, break na kami ni Adam Levine.

I had a crazy weekend, and I was too overwhelmed with things to make a post about it yesterday.

Last Saturday, I spent the day outside, at the Mall of Asia to be specific. I was with my sister and a friend. They planned on watching a movie, but that meant missing the sunset, so we just skipped the movie and they took pictures of the view by the bay.

After the sunset, we went to the Global Fun Carnival (guys and gals, it is such a complete waste of time --- and money, if you opt to buy the ride-all-you-can ticket, because the rides suck. Haha!). My companions took photos of the place.

It was a very tiring day. Nevertheless, fun galore! Hahahaha!

Oh, and not to mention these treasures that I found!

We also inquired about the Maroon 5 tickets. And the answer kind of pissed me off. They will not sell those "free seating" tickets unless those pricey "reserved" ones are sold. Add that fact to the Rolling Stone article I read, and I can't help but think these guys have a big ego. Sorry! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the band and their music, but I guess when it comes to the members' personalities, Sponge Cola is waaaaaaay better than these guys. ♥ (i-compare daw ba? Hahahaha!)

Bought Transit De Luxe last Saturday too, and I fell asleep with their music videos playing inside my head. And now I can't wait for my next gig so that these guys can sign our new album again! Hahaha!

Also, Transit is now Platinum! Congratulations! Yaaaaaay! I am so proud!

I also can't wait for Panic at the Disco's new album (out on March 25), Pretty. Odd.! I've heard a single off the new album, and I absolutely looooove it! I am such a music dork.

Last Sunday was my father's birthday, and we ate lunch at his favorite restaurant. We spent the afternoon strolling at the nearby mall when my mother had to call her sister at our province. Our lola was rushed to the hospital because she fainted and then she can't speak. She had plans on going back home on March, and now she had to leave for Bacolod immediately. She went home yesterday.

I'm getting tired of work. I only look forward to talking to my high-level students. Which is not a good sign.

The news that most shocked me this morning was about Heath Ledger. I know some of you already heard about what happened to him, but to those who are clueless: he just died.

I read about his death in blogs of my Multiply contacts. I thought it was a joke at first, but then again, three people already wrote about it. So it's true, the news was posted about three hours ago. They suspect a drug overdose becauase they found sleeping pills and anti-anxiety drugs in his bed.

He was 28 years old and he was a promising actor. I'm looking forward to seeing him perform as Joker in "The Dark Knight".

It's just terribly, terribly sad.

The De Luxe edition of Sponge Cola's "Transit" will be released on January 24, and it's also Chris's birthday. I plan to watch a gig soon, but I'm still waiting for the right venue.

Anywaaaaaaaaaaaay. This week, I started training as an online english instructor (naks, 'kala mo ang galing. Hahahaha!). I had three classes last night. And the second one was a nightmare. There were some bloopers, and no, I will not share them with you. Hahahaha! Bloopers that include me "correcting" a student's wrong sentence with an equally shameful one. Demmet. But I guess last night's performance was "so far, so good"... not exceptional, and not horrible.

The song I love at the moment is this acoustic version of Ne-Yo's "So Sick". And guess who sang it? Fall Out Boy. Honestly, the song that Patrick Stump can't sing hasn't been written yet. This guy can sing anything. Effortlessly. There are some lines that he got wrong, but his voice is more than enough to love the song and put it on repeat.

Out of all the photos of Daniel Radcliffe, there's this one photo that was actually made from my dreams. Remember the Details magazine August 2007 issue (which, I am very proud to say, was the best-selling Details ish last year. Woohoo. Go Dan!)?

I only saw that mag twice. And I was very sure that I will never ever have that issue because it costs PHP595! For a magazine? No. Way.

I was content with the mag scans I saw online. So I have long given up on actually holding that certain issue on my hands again since I assumed that all August issues are forever gone by now.

Then what happened this afternoon made my knees weak.

I make it a habit to browse for magazines and books at Book Sale. I previously found hard to find mags there for less than 200 pesos. So this afternoon, I was hoping to find AP (Alternative Press) or Spin magazines with any Fueled By Ramen artists I like on the cover. On the first row of magazines, I already saw three Details mags. By that time, I was already imagining the August cover photo.

Then FATE intervened (anak ng... Hahaha). The second row of mags fell over, uncovering the magazines at the back portion of the pile. And guess whose face was staring at me. DANIEL RADCLIFFE --- the perfect man God made especially for me (roll your eyes now, people!). On the August isssue of Details! And I wanted to hold on to the walls of the shop just to keep myself from slumping on the floor.

No, I am not overreacting.

And just how much was it? SIXTY-FIVE PESOS. Good lord, I am taking him home.

I finished browsing through all the rows of magazines, and that was the only Details August 2007 issue I saw. I told you it was fate! Haha!

So I guess good things do come to those who wait!

Love In The Time Of Cholera And Other Tales

I'm almost done with "Love In The Time Of Cholera" by Gabriel García Márquez, there's about ten pages left. Hehe. I never thought I would actually finish this one. I tried reading his "One Hundred Years of Solitude" before and gave up after just a few pages.

Anyway, I was really interested about the love story of the two protagonists of the book, and that's what made me go on reading this. Florentino Ariza's love for Fermina Daza is beyond belief. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what devotion really means.

It actually made me think that if I were born in that era, I wouldn't last. Ugh, it has many unspoken rules and I think, less independence.

Márquez has this style. He does a lot of flashbacks and he narrates like he's branching off to other topics. I skip most of his geography and history ramblings, which I find kind of unnecessary. Or maybe it's just me.

I'm excited to read the next book on my list: "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. I know I'm supposed to read the latest Tolkien book, but since I only borrowed Tale from a friend, I have to prioritize this one. She was actually the one who told me about the book, and when I read the blurb, I really thought it's worth a read.

She also gave me these book plates, which I love! My fave out of the three is the one that says: "Return this or die." Hahaha!

I'm about to start my training for work tomorrow. And may I just reiterate that the main reason I wanted to work because I need Patron seats to the Maroon 5 concert! Adam Levine in the flesh, mehn! You cannot say 'NO' to that!

Fangirling 101

A friend and I wrote this sort of "how-to-be-a-fangirl" to do's while we were waiting in line for our Meet and Greet The Click Five stubs in Greenbelt 3. Obviously, we were bored. Hahaha! We have been so fangirl-y at that time and we wrote down these things that we did when Fall Out Boy and The Click Five came to Manila.

Disclaimer: We just wrote down these silly things we did and these are not to be taken seriously. But I do think these are friendly reminders, and very practical tips.

Things to do before the event:

Call for information. If it is a mall tour, call the Concierge, Customer Service, etc. If it is a concert, call for ticket details. Be sure to get the best value for your money.

Make sure you got all the info right. Call again the night before the event.

If you have connections, then this is the best time to connect, girl!

Weeks (or months) before the event, it is very important to: SAVE, SAVE, and SAVE!!! You will empty your pockets in some unexpected circumstances.

If it is a mall tour, expect that you will buy an album.

If you haven't memorized the lyrics to their songs yet, start doing it right now. Hahaha! Do research. Who knows? You might be given a chance to have some small talk with them. Yehesss.

If you can (and if you are willing to), make banners. Write catchy statements. The artists like the effort.

Ready your cameras, or camphones, in case of unexpected sightings.

DO NOT bring your parents with you (unless they like the artist/band too). What is the point, anyway? You'll get into arguments, and you don't need your mommy or daddy to rescue you. They should give their space to other people who deserve to see the band more.

Make sure your outfit is ready. Wear comfy clothes, and SNEAKERS. You will need to run in some circumstances. And God knows I am not kidding.

If you have a class, weigh the advantages and disadvantages first. (But for me, I think the event will only happen ONCE and you're going to miss it?! Come on! Hahaha! I am such a bad influence. Tsk. )

On the day itself:

If it's a free show, arrive at the venue at least four hours before they give out the stubs. And four hours before the show starts, start lining up.

Stop by the venue every now and then, in case a line starts.

If there is already a line, then run! Hahaha!

If there is a rush to fall in line, and a friend gets left behind, then run --- for you and your friend's sake. (Based on true events. Honestly. Hahaha!)

Scene sweep --- know where they could possibly enter and exit the premises.

Show no mercy to those who sneak in line.

Expect to have instant friends. And some are for keeps! Yay!

Also expect to get crushed, elbowed, stepped on (among other things that people do just to sneak in). Falling in line is like being in a moshpit... only the concert hasn't started yet.

Stand on tiptoes if you can't breathe.

If people start pushing at the back, use this opportunity to push yourself towards the entrance.

Yes, there will always be brats. But don't mind them. Haha!

Once you enter the venue, find a seat nearest the stage.

Do not shriek if the other girls start shrieking. They're probably pulling your leg. And you'll only feel silly if you start shrieking and they're not in the vicinity yet.

Sit down, comb your hair, wipe your perspiration. And prepare to perspire some more since the show is about to start. Hahaha!

Notice that you can't help but say out loud how hot so and so is. Oh, why are they so adorable?! I also do not know the answer to those questions. Hahaha!

If you have a crappy cellphone cam, don't take photos that much. Just enjoy their presence on stage while it lasts.

If the band asks you to stand up, jump, scream, yell or whatever, DO IT. Give the guys a break.

If there is a meet and greet, follow the instructions given by the people in charge. Ask for a hug or shake their hand. Start some small talk. THIS WILL ONLY HAPPEN ONCE. Make the most out of it.

Keep your cool when you're talking to the artist. Cheer yourself on before you meet them. If it's possible, practice. I know it's hard to pretend that you're not about to burst into bubbles of happiness, but you'll only make a fool of yourself and you'll forever wish that you did things quite differently if you don't keep your cool!

If you know some precious info, only share this with your friends. Call it being selfish, but it's what fangirls do! Hahaha!

After the hype:

Stalk them online. Add them on their official accounts. If they won't add you because their account is private, get over it and respect them. DON'T send them PMs and ask what their problem is. That is SUPER uncool, dude.

Look out for their journal posts. Determine whether or not your country made a good impression on them.

If they like your country, they'll probably be back. Go you!

I hope you enjoyed reading the entry just as much as I enjoyed typing this and reminiscing on things we did before. Haha!

All Wrong

Really. I could think of a thousand more reasons on how I could start my year, but not with these.

I started the year sick. On January 1, both my sister and I had high fever (we would later learn that my brother and father had chills that night too). She had to work and I tried my best to sleep. But I woke up every two hours because of the fever and the splitting headache. I had to give myself TSB just to bring my temperature down. It was awful. I remember I have never been this sick in years, and it sucks.

We went for a check-up the following morning, my sister and I, and since my fever subsided that morning, I was given the thumbs up by the doctor and given a few meds. My sister, though, was a different scenario. The doctor was unsure of what she has since she still has fever, was pale, and she blanched a bit. He suspected Dengue and told us to check her in so that she can be monitored. So we did. She had fever that night, and on the following day, the doctor told us it was not Dengue. It was a systemic viral infection and that we could go home the next day, if everything went well.

I stayed at the hospital for about three days, I never left. I spent my first few days of 2008 there, I guess you could say that that sucks, but it actually doesn't. I stayed there because I love my sister, and that isn't bad at all.

On the last few days of 2007, I was not on speaking terms with my Ma. The start of this year is like being in a field with landmines whenever I am with her. She would get angry for the smallest, tiniest reason that is oftentimes pathetic. I missed Hogwarts Philippines' End of Term Feast because of her fury. She got mad because I asked permission to go to GREENBELT (shet. ang layoooo nun!) to celebrate with my fellow Gryffindors to make up for my absence in the EotF. She would find something just to give her enough reason to nag and to be miserable. I don't understand her. And God knows how long I have given up on understanding her. Argh!

I hope there's more to 2008 than this. More learning, music, fun, books, love, and friends. You know, such things that make life more bearable.

The Kite Runner

I've been catching up on reading books since last year (naks. Last year! haha.), now I know that I have a lot of time on my hands.

I was stuck on the first page of this book for weeks. Each time I pick it up, I hear a good song and I get lost in the music. Last night, I had Death Cab For Cutie's Plans on deck, on low volume and on repeat, I read the book. And finished it at about 2AM.

I read somewhere that the only good book she read in 2007 was "The Kite Runner", and I couldn't blame her. Hosseini uses simple words and clear meanings, no paragraph-long descriptions which I skip every now and then, no deep thoughts of wisdom that people will eventually use as forwarded text quotes. But the whole story itself is something you have to ponder on. The characters have evolved with time, but the sins from their past always haunt their present and their future (which is like the basic plot of Kim Edwards's "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" --- another good book, by the way).

I loved it. It's a good book to start a year. I can't help but say a little prayer to give thanks that I have never (and I hope to never will) felt war.

What I started reading this morning was "Love In The Time Of Cholera" by Gabriel García Márquez. This is my second attempt to read Márquez, I gave up on "A Hundred Years Of Solitude" after my first chapter and never opened it again. I hope to finish Cholera soon, I have "Children of Húrin" waiting at our shelf.

So many books, so little time.

On The Last Day Of 2007

The year has been crazy for me --- and unforgettable in many, many ways.

I began the year at home, but a couple of days later, I spent weeks with people I barely know. And I thank God that I survived our community immersion. This thing changed a whole loooooooooooooot of people.

This March, I graduated from my course. I'm done with studying, done with school, with everything that has been my life for the past sixteen years. Honestly, I was more excited during my high school graduation than with this one. Maybe because I do not know what will become of me after I graduate from college. And sad to say, this statement still stands. Yikes.

All those years of schooling boiled down to: the nursing licensure exams. I took it early this month. I still don't know if I passed or failed, I will probably know in two months' time. I was anxious the night before the exam, but I left it in the hands of God on the day of the examination. His will be done.

A few months ago, I spent a night out with my high school friends. A reunion of some sort. And that night was probably one of the most fun for me this year. I saw my very close friends again, and realized that we haven't changed. Of course we've changed physically, because well, four years has passed. What I meant was that our personalities haven't changed. Those people who were very boisterous before, were still the craziest of the bunch until now. How I miss them.

I had my very first job interview this year, which I failed at. Hahahaha! No biggie, really. I just think of it as a milestone, and a very good experience of the "real" world.

2007 was a very good year for Potterheads. Remember the fifth movie came out last July? And the FINAL Harry Potter book too? Of course you remember. Because I wouldn't let you forget! Haha! I went crazy that month. And I was a celebrity too! Hahaha! Hogwarts Philippines had cameos all over the press because the fandom. July was awesome, and I celebrated being a Harry Potter fan.

Music was a huge thing for me this year. I've loved it since forever, but now I'm more open in rediscovering new sounds. I think it's thanks to Fall Out Boy. (If the guys of Fall Out Boy can read this, I want them to know they don't need a Grammy award. Infinity on High was the best album in 2007 for me and for thousands of people who truly, truly love good music. Yeboi.)

I am such a loser because I missed their concert. I swear I will see them live in the future. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK!!! I missed their concert!!! But I did get to see them face to face for about ten seconds. And I instantly fell in love with Patrick Stump! Hahaha! But it still doesn't change the fact that I missed their concert! Boo! And I missed Neil Gaiman when he visited the country too. Such. A. Loser.

I didn't miss The Click Five's performances though. I saw them rock TriNoma and Greenbelt 3 Park. I got to "meet" the guys (well, except Ethan, who seemed to be always in a hurry whenever I am around. Haha!), savored every second they were in the vicinity, went crazy, loved them for their skills and their looks (aba naman!), and eventually missed them when they left the country. I admit I was (and still am) a super fangirl. I'm sorry, I can't get it out of my system! Next stop: MAROON 5!!! Hell yeah!

I attended about four Sponge Cola gigs this year. It was supposed to be five gigs, but the last one didn't quite go according to plan. Haha! Anyway, I am blessed to get to know the band more this year. I wish for more gigs the next year so that I won't miss seeing them on stage that much! Haha!

The wonderful thing about 2007 for me was meeting new friends, and rediscovering old ones. It's weird how random people can relate to you in many ways.

The greatest gift the year has given us is surely my father's life. August was ugly. We very nearly lost our Pa. But God lent him back to us. So in the end, 2007 taught me to treasure relationships more.

This year is certainly one ride I wouldn't forget. Things might not have happened exactly the way I wanted it, but this is what God planned for me. And I'm embracing it.

There are a lot of good memories, and I've had my share of of frustrations and tears this year too.

2008, I'm ready for more!

I hope they come here.

Still A Bum

Last Tuesday, I had my very first job interview. It was sort of unexpected because the company called me on Monday, and they immediately scheduled my interview on Tuesday.

So there I was, totally clueless on how the day will end, and how to answer the interviewer's questions.

The initial interview went great. He even asked me about my favorite authors, and so I was giving him my answers with a big smile on my face. We had a small talk about fantasy and he finally told me I could go through the second stage: the examination. It was pretty easy in general, but some parts made me wrinkle my forehead.

The final interview went okay (in my opinion). The problem was she bombarded me with questions about the board exam and my course. So in the end, I'm still a bum. Tadaaaaaa! Hahaha!

I'll continue my search next week.

Last Monday, Troma --- my crazy college friends, had a sleepover (wow, so Sweet Valley! Haha!). We had no plans whatsoever on what to do that night and the following day. But knowing these guys that I'm with, nothing can possibly go wrong, and that day would turn out to be a blast.

And it did.

Most of us just finished taking the Nursing Licensure Exams, some were already working, and some have plans of working. And we're becoming mature. Or are we? Dundunduuuuuuuuun...

We're done studying. And it's time to face the world. Hi world! *waves*

This afternoon, a truck stopped in front of our gate. After a few moments, my mother came up the stairs and handed me a gift. Hahaha! It was kind of big, all wrapped up with a green ribbon.

I even forgot to take a snap of the huge photo album that came with these.
I was surprised that they even replied. You see, last July, I wrote to a handful of companies who were manufacturing Harry Potter merchandise and asked if they were keen on making and selling more since the fifth movie just came out. And after a few months, this company truck came by our house, dropped off this gift and a letter.

Oh, happy, joy, joy! Heeeee.

Hullo! Noticed something? Haha! I'm back from my hiatus! With a new layout!

It was hard to pick a theme. There were prospects: The Click Five, more Harry Potter/Daniel Radcliffe, or random things that don't really reflect any fandoms... But since Fall Out Boy rocked my 2007, they will be the face of my blog starting today.

This band introduced me to more good music (mostly those from Fueled By Ramen records) and they influenced me more than I want to admit.

The layout turned out to be pastel-y. I didn't really intend on doing it at first, but it just came out like this. I wanted to have a pastel layout a year ago anyway, so there, at least I finally had it.

Anyway, Vertical Horizon are playing at the Araneta Colesium tonight. And I'm missing it. I am such a loser.

Sponge Cola is playing at Dubai tonight too. Good for them! I feel so proud. Hahaha!

And oh, did I mention the local Nursing Licensure Examinations are done and that I'm waiting eagerly for the results? The exams were hard as hell. And some questions were just so mind-boggling, that no one I know were sure of the correct answers.

Since I'm done with reviewing, I just went out almost everyday after the exams. I've watched 'Enchanted' and 'The Golden Compass'.

'The Golden Compass', by the way, is superb. I was excited to see this movie, and I wasn't disappointed. It's like the movie came straight out of the book. I so love Iorek. I'm looking forward to seeing the next two films.

Just a few updates before I (hopefully) get off using the computer.

My sister and I watched the Kantabataan Grand Finals last Saturday, a good friend invited us to come watch. Thanks Ian (and congrats for a great show)! And thanks to Chris, too. He used the Force (or should I say, the power of being Sponge Cola's drummer) on the bouncer. Hahahaha!

Imago, Sponge Cola, Hale, Yeng Constantino, and Sugarfree performed.

It's always a treat to see Sponge Cola perform. And hey, I realized I missed seeing Hale on stage. I still like them, but not that much nowadays.

Suitcase 101 won this year's Kantabataan, Centerpoint as the first runner up, and Corsage came in as second runner up. But I should say congratulations to Cozmik Euphoria and Boracay Republik too, because they all rocked that night. Honestly, all the bands were good.

I browsed Clandestine's FOE profile this afternoon, and this is the coolest thing since I can't remember when:

I am still bitter about J.K. Rowling producing only SEVEN copies of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard". Six are given to people closely involved with the Potter books, and the seventh will be auctioned. DEEEEEEEEEEEEMMET!
The titles of the five tales in the book are "The Fountain Of Fair Fortune", "The Warlock's Hairy Heart", "The Tale Of The Three Brothers", "The Wizard And The Hopping Pot" and "Babbitty Rabbitty And Her Cackling Stump".

I hope that someone who will win the bid would scan all the pages and share it with the rest of the world. Ha! As if.

~~Reviewing~~ Studying, memorizing, brainstorming, analyzing, recalling... Hoping I can cram everything a few weeks before the damn exam (oh shet! It's only less than four weeks away! HOMAYGAAAAAAAAAAD!).

Glorietta 2 was "bombed" earlier today. Please take a moment to say a prayer to those who died and those who were injured.
While waiting for the doctor during Papa's check-up this afternoon, I happened to eavesdrop on a couple of people who were waiting there with us. They were there when the bombing happened, only they were at Glorietta 4, they felt the impact and they thought it was an earthquake. But then word got out. Panic! at the mall, it is. They got out safely, but their car is still in the carpark.
And it had to happen a week before the 5th Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, and a few days after The Click Five roamed the Ayala malls.

Of all the vocalists of the bands I love, Patrick Stump has the greatest vocals. I love them all, but Stump is the shiznit. From "where is your boy tonight?" to "wipe that smile off your f*cking face," his voice is pure love.

Joey Zehr (drummer, The Click Five) liked sisig. And he knows what it's made of. Hahahahaha!

Oh! I fogot! Watch "Stardust" pala! I was so caught up with fangirly-ness, that I temporarily forgot my geekiness. Beautiful, hilarious movie! It's sort of different from the novel by Neil Gaiman, but all the changes were welcome naman. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has all the elements that I love in a movie --- fantasy, humor, suspense, and a little bit of romance.

Sometimes I hate VIPs so much. Is it because I'm bitter and I envy them? I dunno.

I am crazy. Almost everyone I met went crazy for the band. And I find it crazy that those guys can be cute, talented, and nice at the same time. Haha!

Ethan has this "reserved" personality that we even found him hard to approach. Listen to their song. Hear that high-pitched voice? That's him. Joe rocks the guitar. You have to see him perform, you'll drool. Ben has this devilish smile and stare. I swear. If you ever get to see him on the keyboards, with that certain expression on his face, you'll shut up, grin like a dork, and just stare back at him. And you'd want to run away. Or maybe stay. Hahahaha! Joey has these gorgeous blue, blue eyes that would want to swim into. I like to see him play too, especially when his hair sways while he bangs his head with the music he plays. He's just adorable. And Kyle --- with his pretty boy good looks, a-maaaaaaaay-zing dimples, hair that you would want to run your fingers into, and height to die for, he'll simply make you stare at him... While excreting bodily fluids at every pore and duct in your body.

Now, imagine all of them in skinny jeans.

At age 20, nearly 21, I still don't know what to do with my life. Now this one's not weird, it's just sad.

I know I'm not perfect so don't start bashing me, but bad grammar and sTiCkY cApS annoy me so much. My brows furrow and shoot up whenever someone holding a mic commits a grammar mistake. Those who use sticky caps everytime they type (or write! My goodness!) can go practice typing.

I oftentimes quote statements from what I read or watch. I think I'm pretty cool when I do that. But then nobody seems to get it. So I'm not that cool, come to think of it.

I have headphones stuck to my ears almost everytime I'm alone. So I can have Fall Out Boy, Sponge Cola, Maroon 5, Panic! At The Disco, Goo Goo Dolls, and more rockstars as my company.

When I like something, I obsess. I was born a fangirl. I don't content myself to just admiring someone, because it always (ALWAYS) escalates to obsession. It's pretty obvious, yes? My new obsession: Fall Out Boy. Watch out Patrick, Pete, Joe, and Andy --- I could stalk you.

The last line was a joke, by the way. But they do say jokes are half meant. Sooooooooo. Do the math.

Fact Three.
I can spend the whole day in front of the computer. I can think of a ton of things I can do with the PC. Even nursing seems interesting when viewed from the monitor. Geek alert.

Fact Four.
Talk to me about Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Heroes, CSI, House, Sponge Cola, Fall Out Boy, fantasy, movies, music, and books in general and we're friends. Or you can simply make me laugh.
Go to a gig with me and we're super friends. I'm pretty easy like that. Bash any of the enumerated things above and I swear to you --- either you will lose in our debate or you go home to your mommy crying. And bloody. I told you I'm obsessed.

Fact Five.
I cannot live without black nail polish. It is one of the essential things in my life. My bottle just dried out. Must. Buy. Soon.

And no, don't call me a poser, because I have been coloring my nails black six years ago, way before anybody even thought of looking for black nail polish. I found a bottle after scouring almost all the department stores in Manila and Makati, and even some parts of Pasig. I'm not kidding.

Apparently, no, I'm obviously still not over Fall Out Boy.

I really, really wanted to make a Multiply theme, but then thought that no one would want it (except me, but I wouldn't want to change my layout at this time --- it may look like I have a lot of time in my hands. September 21, 2007 SM Mall of AsiaFall Out Boy visited Manila recently, and since I didn't catch their sold out concert, I settled for a mall tour. I really didn't expect the MoA appearance to push through. Because I thought it was so damn impossible. When I called earlier that week, they told me the band was going to perform at the mall, but they changed their minds a day before their mall appearance.
But that's completely okay. I got my album inlay signed. And I saw them up close.

(Okay, I'm letting the fangirl side of me out. Don't panic.)
When "Sugar, We're Going Down" had heavy airplay, I liked them. And I thought they would be just another one hit wonder band. Then "Infinity On High" came out, and almost everyone was OMG.PETEWENTZ. Hahaha! I love the band and their songs, and Pete's metaphors and lyrics are really worth listening to. I love Pete's smile. But I think Patrick is cuter.

Soooooo. That day, we rushed to the mall because we knew hundreds would want to "meet" the guys. Good thing we were second in line. Fangirl much?

When I went up the stage, I managed to answer Patrick when he wasked me how I was. There was a dorky grin on my face that says: hi, i'm a fangirl, sign my album inlay? I like Patrick's eyes. I really didn't realize that he had gorgeous, made of awesome eyes until I saw him up close. To those familiar with ONTD, a LiveJournal community, Pete really does read it. Hahahaha! He smiled at me. I melted.

September 22, 2007 Candy FairI preferred last year's fair. There were a handful of bands, so everyone played only three songs. Still, I enjoyed the night. And Sponge Cola performed, so yay! I don't have that much photos, because cellphones and cameras only get in the way of the view. Yeah, go figure. Hahaha!

The Difference A Month Can Make

Exactly a month has passed since that day we almost lost our father. I know it took me a month to even mention this. Until now, I'm not ready to write about what happened to him.

That episode turned our lives around. We're drained emotionally, physically, and financially --- but never spiritually. Until now, we're adjusting. It's harder to budget our money and time with papa's maintenance meds, his follow-up check-ups and his constant need for care, but I guess it's a small price to pay for his life.

Because of this, our family distinguished those who care from those who don't. It's pretty easy, really. Once you find yourself in real deep shit, they're the ones who jump into that deep shit with you, give you a hand and help you out of the hellhole. So a big thank you to those who remembered, prayed, and thought of my father. Huuuuuuugs!

My highlight of the week was probably last Thursday. Some members of Pinoy Harry Potter (PHP) and Star Wars Phils. were invited to have a segment on a certain show that we shot last Thursday night at the Fandom Café. The show was apparently presenting cosplayers that are also real life friends. Well, I really don't consider myself a cosplayer, I just want the full Hogwarts uniform for New Worlds events (and other instances where I can make use of it. Hehe.) and for my own personal fullfillment. I realized I miss PHP and NWA friends too. Aaaaaw.

A fellow member was interviewed and we all did "spells" in front of the camera, displaying our Hogwarts uniform.

And surprise, surprise! Look who came to the shoot too!
He made me miss going to gigs.

Earlier this week, a friend came to surprise us at R.U.N. (our review center) with PIZZA!

We were completely stunned to see her there. And seeing her again made me realize (for the nth time) how I miss people from Troma that I barely see now. How I long for a cozy dinner and chismis with these people that I miss for a thousand different reasons I cannot possibly enumerate.

While listening to a radio program earlier last week, a conversation between the two DJ's caught my attention.

DJ X was telling DJ Z that he was viewing Initial D videos on YouTube. DJ X then told a story about the time when he met a couple of people in a fastfood chain who also watch Initial D. DJ X said that these two other guys were so into Initial D that they were thinking of learning certain things that were connected to show and that they knew so much about it. DJ X was so shocked that these guys were very enthusiastic over Initial D that he wanted to shout "NERDS!!! OMG, Nerds! Get me out of here!" He then told DJ Z that he cannot believe the two guys he just met and he would never meet them again.

I was fuming. Excuse me, DJ X....

First off, they are not "nerds," rather, they are termed as "geeks."

I sent a text message to the station. They have to get things right and I wanted them to know that I do not appreciate DJ X's attitide towards those guys. What's wrong with being a geek? At least, unlike DJ X, we're passionate about something.

This is what I told them: "Hi! Good morning! I would just like to say that the term you used (nerds) earlier is wrong. To set things straight, a "nerd" is someone who leans more into scholastic, scholarly things. Like memorizing the atomic weights of all the elements, etc, you get what I mean. "Geeks", on the other hand, are those who are really into something. Like the Star Wars or Star Trek geeks and the like. I don't see why you want to get away from those guys, seeing that you are into Initial D yourself, just think of it like they're more passionate about it than you. I myself am a big Harry Potter fan. You can call me a geek, there's nothing to be ashamed of. I have gained and earned a lot from being a geek, so it's not really a bad thing. :)"

So to those who eye geeks as a joke, laugh all you want... we'll rule the world someday. Just wait and see.

I still can't get over the fact I will not read any Harry Potter adventures anymore, that there will be no more speculations or theories to wonder about. I will never get to ask: what happens next? to fellow fans.

And because it's JK Rowling and Harry Potter's birthdays, some canon deatils for fans:

Careful! Spoilers abound!

This book is my favorite in the series, and that's saying much because I love everything Harry Potter.

It may seem that I my obsession has reached its maximum point, that I could no longer love Harry as much as I loved him before I read the last book. But knowing all the things that he has undergone and looking back on how he started as a boy that knows nothing about the wizarding world, he makes me proud. He's a better man than Albus Dumbledore, and an even better man than Tom Riddle.

With that in mind, I say congratulations to Ms. J.K. Rowling. I want to shake her hand and bow until my witch's hat falls on the floor. She has made these characters that seem so real to me that I can't help but cry everytime someone is injured or bawl everytime someone dies. I've been kissing the book everytime she made a very stellar twist in the plot, our book has probably my saliva all over it now. She sewn the loose threads that she made all thoughout the series, reveal countless of plot twists, and she still managed to explain the Deathly Hallows in this book? She is just pure genius.

After arriving from the "Deathly Hallows: Destiny's Hand" launch, my sister and I started reading the book past midnight. I didn't care if everything was quiet. I was crying my eyes out and sniffing like I had a case of really bad flu. From the start, I was teary-eyed... Seeing the dedication of the book --- she dedicated it to me (well, not to me personally, but uh, you get the idea), until the end of the battle, after realizing all the trust they gave the Boy who Lived and the all the sacrifices almost everyone has made in his name.

I started to cry so hard when Hedwig died. As in, like the whole world crashed on me. For me, it seemed like, "This is it. Even an owl was not spared." After that, what struck me the most is how his friends and the rest of the Order of the Phoenix were so ready to die for him, and how some people can be so evil even if death and destruction were already staring at their faces. I cried when I read things like that. The book was so emotional for me.

I got some theories right, like Snape's loyalty and whether Harry is a horcrux or not. I never thought that Snape would be like that: a hopeless romantic, and that his life was such a tragedy that started and ended with Lily Potter. But he is a complex character --- never knowing what his thoughts are, and I think only Albus knows him best.

Now we all know why J.K. wanted Kracher to appear in the 5th movie. He has such a huge role in the future. All house elves deserve a hug. :)

What I admired most in the book is the trio. It's really not the same if someone was missing from them. I loved them so much while reading the book, I changed my cellphone wallpaper into a trio photo. I loathed Ron so much when he left. Even though I wanted to laugh because of Hermione's hysterical shouts when he came back, I couldn't help but cry and be relieved that he was back among them. Hermione is also a genius, she has everything planned and she's always calm even if they are in a tight spot. And seriously, she is one helluva witch you will not want to mess with.

The Malfoys are not as bad as everyone assumes. I feel that they are pressured to act like Death Eaters since they have this "pureblood" status that they are extemely proud of.

Oh, and Bella's in love with Voldemort. Haha! B*tch! LOL

All deaths made me stop reading for a while because I cannot see the letters anymore, everything's blurry because of the tears. You see, I cried so hard because I truly feel that these characters are my friends, like I have been them all throughout these years. Laugh all you can, that's how I am so into the books.

Oh I could not wait 'til this movie comes in theaters! Everything is action packed, from the first chapter until the end (not including the epilogue). I pity the director and the writer of this film since every event is important to better understand the series. It's difficult to cut a scene from the book. They could do away with the epilogue, though (yes, it was the same lame epilogue I read a few days before the book was released).

As an end to the series, it was explosive. I had such great expectation for this book and I was not in the least disappointed. Ms Rowling deserves to be applauded and Harry deserves to be known as a great hero, because he really is one.

Hullo. The past week was so busy and yet... FUN.

There are so many things that I would like to narrate and share with anyone interested in reading this. I feel that I would burst in excitement. But of course, I can't explode. Well, not before I read the last Harry Potter book, anyway.

Uhm. I'm starting this with a rant. We have classes on Saturday. ARGH. I don't care. I'm skiving my review classes. My mother doesn't have to know. Haha! I mean, come on, IT'S JULY 21. Darn those people who don't know the significance of this date in my life.

Speaking of Deathly Hallows (DH), I'm spoiled. I've seen the photos of the whole book. As in. OH MY GASH. Yun talaga yun. Someone took photos of the whole book! And don't ask me for the link, I don't want to be the reason why you would be spoiled. Believe me, deep within you, you don't want to be spoiled. But if photos and resources are given to you, you just have to see it (like I did. Shet.). So, I'm not giving anyone the links. Find it on the web if you really, really want to be spoiled. It will be released on Saturday, guys. Just wait.

But it feels like a long wait. Sheesh.

And more Deathly Hallows news in my life: I've seen the DH boxes last Friday! It may not seem like a big deal to you, but seeing those glorious white boxes with red letters made me realize that it's really here. We were strictly prohibited to take photos of the boxes last Friday. And how did I get to see those boxes? Because I had the opportunity to be one of the moderators of the book discussion of Powerbooks Greenbelt 3. It was a pretty cool experience. I really had a blast discussing Harry Potter with fellow HP fans because I never get tired of speculating and attempting to guess the flow of JKR's imagination.

As expected, New Worlds Transformed (or NeWT to us, PHP-ers) was super fun! I soooooo love NWA! Those guys make me feel that this obsession is normal. Hehehe.

I was at NeWT last Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. If there is another convention this October, then I cannot wait for it! *huggles NWA people*

Wednesday.
It was Harry Potter day and Pinoy Harry Potter celebrated it at Power Plant Mall, of course. That day was exciting and so tiring. Imagine shooting for two-three hours and all you get is a 15-minute segment. Press people came. Whoa. PHP-ers were all over the newspapers (Phil. Daily Inquirer, Phil. Star, Manila Bulletin, and Tempo), the TV (RPN, QTV, and GMA), and the internet. PHP-ers are stars!

After our duty at Rockwell, we went to Mall of Asia for (what else?) our first ever Order of the Phoenix screening at Imax! Most fans were disappointed with the movie. But just like what Molly Weasley (not her real name. Haha!) said, fans would somehow find away to love the movie. It's Harry Potter, that's why.

I'm not reviewing the whole movie. You don't need another OotP review. But if you would want to know opinions of PHP-ers (including mine), our reviews can be found here.

I strongly suggest that people get to watch it on Imax. Everything's cooler on 3D. I was gaping at the duels. Especially the Voldy/Lolo Albus duel. And I actually had my arms out as if to reach Harry. Dem, hot talaga.

I also suggest that you: read the books! Come on!

Basta, Luna is such a star. Harry is hot . Ergo, they should be together. Eh? Hahaha!

We were off to Power Plant mall again and I had my second fix of OotP. This time, I did not think about the scenes lacking in the film, I forgot my previous expectations, and said: "To hell with reviews! I'm enjoying it this time." And I did. I swear, it's not as bad as it seemed to me at first. But still, I want Cuaron to direct the remaining films! Haha!

I Think I Need A Sunrise

I wasn't online for almost two days and when I finally go online today, there's a mountain-load of Harry Potter/Daniel Radcliffe photos. Even Pinoy Harry Potter has a lot of TV guestings lately. Ah, if only I wasn't attending review classes the whole day.

...if I could explain what I'm going through right now, that would be it.

And you can't blame me. I'm nearly at the end of my wits. Powerbooks has a few Harry Potter merchandise, I have to buy the final touches for my Hogwarts uniform, there are dozens of Daniel Radcliffe photos all over the internet, various magazines have HP-related articles, etc, etc... I can't contain my the excitement when I think about seeing the next HP movie next week and reading the last book this fortnight.

Anyway, as you guys may have noticed, I haven't posted much lately. My mother will start to scold me if I spend too much time on the computer, or if I read anything unrelated to nursing (ie. The Half-Blood Prince). So I try (but fail! Haha!) to stay away from the computer so I can get away with the few late nights I will spend on Transformed and Harry Potter next week.

Which reminds me that I should pimp "Transformers" to those unfortunate souls who haven't seen the movie yet. So please, for your own sake, go watch this action-packed, jawdropping, robogasmic, made-of-awesome movie. I expected much from this movie, because everyone seemed to rave about it (well, critics are an exception), and I wasn't disappointed.

I saw Sponge Cola's latest video, "Tuloy Pa Rin" last night. I actually had to stop our LOST Season 3 marathon for a while to watch the premiere. And er -- it was not really pleasant for me. Honestly, I didn't like it. I kept sniggering while watching the video and the only part I enjoyed was the band performing. I didn't fancy the "power" thingy and the Pedro Penduko clips. AND! Chris wasn't even in the video! I know they have a reason for this, but... why? No offense to the other SC supporters ha? I still love them, of course!

Anyway, review classes are still the same. Everyday is spent sitting and taking down notes. Most of the time, I force myself to recall the facts that books, experiences, and the teachers fed me. Parang ang daming napag-aralan pero I have the feeling na wala akong natutunan... which feels horrible. At times, I feel dumb because I feel like I should know about these stuff -- since I'm already a graduate, but I don't.

Now, I dread working as a nurse. Urgh.

I would much rather read and write for the rest of my pathetic life... Or stare at Daniel Radcliffe: hotness personified.

Imagine reviewing the anatomy and physiology of six systems of the human body in a span of seven hours... while sitting and taking down notes.

I feel so drained.

The only good thing is, I'm having fun... This was so much better than the AnaPhy experience that I had. My gahd, that was a semester-long punishment. Just so you know, we were taught by a mentally ill teacher. No, I'm not kidding. She also taught (taught?! Did she successfully teach us anything?) us Microbiology. So that was probably the worst semester ever.

I'm kind of feeling down lately. I suspect my father has Acute Renal Failure, most probably because he has Diabetes. I don't know what to do.

If not for a few Harry Potter merchandise I purchased and this bit of luck---

Our review classes started today. You'll be seeing (?) less of me from now on. (What's that? Do I hear cheers? Haha!)

It feels good to be out of the house again to study. Siguro dahil first day pa lang, nage-enjoy pa ako sa lectures and taking exams. Pretty weird, I know. Pero siguro sa simula lang. But I hope not. Kasi this time, this is it. I want to be SIRIUS when it comes to reviewing.

Ilang araw lang ako hindi nag-internet, parang andami ko nang na-miss sa Harry Potter world. Na-windang ako sa mga pictures... It's nearly July, alam na rin ng media na Harry Potter month na. So, medyo mag-iipon pa ako ng konti for more merchandise. Speaking of HP merchandise, I'm very excited about a few things that I already bought and will acquire this week. I'll let you know when I have the all of it na. Yihee. I'll post photos soon, siguro by Friday.

I just finished reading "MacArthur" by Bob Ong. Some parts were harsh and uncensored, but that's reality for you. Still a Bob Ong LOL book. Tae talaga. Hahaha! And oh, naiyak ako sa bandang dulo.

July Anticipation

It's nearly July. Thank goodness. I have been waiting for this since late last year.

Forget the other eleven months. All events pale in comparison to the happenings this coming month.

I've reserved our tickets for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" at IMAX this afternoon. I was hoping to watch it with the other members of PHP, but my sister can't come on the designated date the group was supposed to watch it. Instead, I'll be seeing it with my mother and sister at 11pm, so, good luck sa review classes ko the following day.

I don't care. It's Harry Potter. It's IMAX. It's Daniel Radcliffe... on 3D. Dang. I have to wear restraints while watching the movie on IMAX.

And who can forget the book 7 launch? Not me. For the first (and probably the last) time, I'll be participating and volunteering in a book launch party. I've been asking myself what will happen on the last book and I've been speculating and sharing theories with other Potter fans to prepare myself for last book. But still, I'm not ready to accept that it's the end of the line for Harry Potter and Hogwarts. JK Rowling's world has been my refuge... my fantasy land where I can escape from reality. Nakana.

Honestly, Rowling has changed who I am. No doubt about that. And I soooo thank her for that.

This month na rin and New Worlds 5, which is an annual science fiction/fantasy convention. Even though I don't like this year's set-up because I prefer New Worlds to be celebrated for only about two days, like before (I heard this will be a week-long event), I can't help but look forward to this convention -- where geeks are the stars, where I get to mingle with the rest of the NWA family, and where I have a good reason to wear my Hogwarts robe.

In a little more than a week, it will already be July. I can't believe it's finally here.

I was a bit busy the last two days. What with? You'll soon know, probably in a day or two. *wink* *wink*

I spent last Saturday with my friends from NWA. I first went to the Pinoy Harry Potter Accio. I met some people I only know through the forum, there were first timers and there were Accio oldies. There was so much to talk about because of the upcoming activities this July (does the Book 7 release, OotP movie, and the 5th sci-fi/fantasy convention ring any bell?) so we had to plan ahead. Wheeeeee! It's so exciting!

After the Accio, I went straight to the Fandom Café for a friend's birthday celebration. Ayun, nag-party na naman ang geeks! Hahaha! My sister and I went home at about 12 midnight, while the others stayed at Fandom until dawn.

Tapos na June nursing board exams. How did my schoolmates fare kaya? Imagine, they're already done with the boards, and me? I'm not yet ready. Oh well. I had a few feedback about the exams. Oh my gawd, ang hirap daw! Parang I now have the pre-review jitters. I'm afraid that I feel like I haven't learned anything in college, and that everything that was crammed in my mind's only short term.

I miss going to gigs. I hope to watch a gig sometime at the end of the month. We still have problems regarding the details of the gig and whether or not my gig-mate (my sister! hahaha!) can come. *crosses fingers* Sponge Cola will be complete pa naman that day, Chris will play na on the 30th . Tsk.

I just claimed my "Heroes" goodies this morning! Yipee!

Wednesday. My sister told me to call up a radio station. She wanted me to join the "Heroes" contest, since I have this history of winning in radio promos. Hahaha! But... I had no luck that day.

So the next afternoon, I called again. I answered a "Heroes" related question (which hero has the power that you would want? --- I answered Peter Petrelli) and won! The DJ was kind of surprised that I am really a fan of the series, I don't know why... She also asked some questions regarding the show, maybe she's now interested with the series. :)

If there's one thing missing in my life right now -- technically, maraming kulang, pero as of this very moment: it's INSPIRATION. I can't think of anything that I might write about. So eto... I'm writing about why I can't write something sensible. Hahaha! Labo!

Well, I don't have to wonder why I'm pretty much uninspired. I've been holed up in our house for two months doing house chores, lazing around, sleeping, dowloading songs, reading or writing... In short: being a bum. This is the first time that I'm not getting ready for school. Sixteen years of my life have been spent studying. The last four years were probably the hardest. Sabay dagdag ng ganun..

Erm... Occasionally, I do go out. Hindi naman akong forever na nasa loob ng bahay. I go out of the house kung merong Accios (Pinoy Harry Potter meet-ups), NWA events, or if I go to the mall. That's about it. Minsan, kung pinalad na payagan ng aking mommy dearest, I hang out with Troma.

I enumerated the things I did these past six weeks... Napansin niyo bang hindi ako nagre-review? I just enrolled in a review center to prepare me for the December nursing licensure exams and my mind's probably filled with cobwebs and dust bunnies. Heck, I should be reviewing because I'm not doing anything and still, I'm procrastinating. Oh well, bite me.

Knowing myself, I'll get back into the rhythm when I'm officially reveiwing. Haha! Palusot pa.

Someone remind me to buy a notebook when I'm in a mall... And to visit the Muggle Nook at Powerbooks.

Rico Blanco Leaves Rivermaya

I have been with the group from the start, and after 14 great years, I am now quite excited about the chance to finally do other things with my life, pursue endeavors outside of the entertainment spotlight. This is a desire I have made known to my group as early as 2005 and have already postponed several times. I will surely miss the music and the fans and will always cherish the experience. Rico Blanco

I am deeply saddened by this. I have been a fan of Rivermaya since I was in fifth grade, I think. I adore Rivermaya, and with them, the original Eraserheads. And until now, I look up to these bands.

Magaling si Rico. I really admire his songwriting skills. And he's multi-talented, he can play a handful of musical instruments. I regard him as the heart of Rivermaya. Kaya nakakalungkot. Pero at the same time, I know he deserves to have a break. He has touched a lot of lives and he has achieved so much, and that is no easy feat.
He's still my idol, and I will continue to support the band. But honestly, it just won't be the same without Rico Blanco.

Four Years Gone -- A Reunion

High school! Where I first started to work my ass off studying, to know real people, experience real (?) problems, trippings, boys (ha!), and the meaning of TRUE friendship. Naks. Drama. *tear* Dito rin pala ako naging baliw. Maraming salamat, Baste!

Last weekend, a friend announced that we were about to have a mini-reunion. The plan? NONE.

Many of us thought that this night out will not push through... Nagmumurahan (normal lang samin yun) at nagbabarahan na sa Yahoo!Group, nagkakadramahan na sa text, mga tipong ganun... Pero natuloy. Buti naman.

So what did we do last night? Eat, laugh (as in LOL, LMAO, ROFL type of laughter, especially coming from the usual suspects: Ed, Joanne, and me), drink (even non-alcoholic drinks -- boo! Even after all these years, nagmamalinis parin kayo... Hahaha! Kidding!), reminisce and summarize our high school lives, and just basically be our regular selves. Because after four long years, nothing much has changed, maybe except our physical appearances. Ed even asked Jo, Raine, and me if we frequently see each other, because we were talking and laughing nonstop.

The closest friends I have in high school.

Parang ang daming dapat sabihin, dapat pag-usapan, dapat pag-tripan, because all of these people are a big part of my life. I was pretty overwhelmed seeing all those faces again.

I couldn't eat well because I wanted to talk and look at all of them. Pero more sisig, more fun talaga.

We first ate at Gerry's Grille at the SM Mall of Asia, where we were the most boisterous among the lot. Imagine sixteen people talking all at once... Ordering food, laughing at our high school photos and at totally random stuff, chattering nonstop and teasing about our old flames (aba, syempre!), and asking each other the penultimate question: "musta ka na?"!

And then we went to Pier One, kaya lang walang maupuan. So, no choice, nag-Marina na lang. Para ano pa ba? Magkwentuhan ulit. Kaya lang, walang nalasing, kaya medyo bitin. Hahaha!

Uhm... So, kelan ulit? Kung may mga anak na tayo?! Hahaha!

Summer? What Summer?

To most of you, summer's probably over. I guess you're going back to school, and you're cursing the rainy season. But for me, I had no summer vacation. I didn't go out of town, I didn't go swimming... Kahit sa pool laaaaaaaaaaaaaang!

Curses, curses!

Most of the time, I was at home, sitting in front of the PC, watching DVD's, or reading books. Such a bum. But at times, I was busy being a geek, if you get my drift.

Well anyway... High school reunion, anyone?

Me! I'm up for it. In fact, I'll be seeing some of my high school friends tomorrow. After four damn years.

I wasn't really feeling it at first and I had to take into consideration that my mother kept on saying no when I ask her for permission. But since my best friend texted me that she would come, I had to take a stab at this thing.

So there, my mother (OMG! Did she really?) said yes. Tomorrow will be pretty interesting.

I finally "designed" a shirt last night. I've been forever wanting to make a shirt since I saw the procedure being done on Art Attack. Don't laugh, I love this show!
I bought a black shirt in Baclaran and first tried to make a LOSTie shirt. It proved to be quite difficult for the inexperienced me. So I decided to find an easy print and tried again.
I chose the symbol that frequently appears on Heroes. It resembles an RNA strand. Ando said that it is a combination of two Japanese characters — sai (which translates to great talent) and yo (which translates to godsend).
The final product of the shirt had a few blots (ooooops). But it turned out to be quite okay. What do you guys think?

Power Surge: On Heroes' Finale

Spoiler-y to those who haven't seen Episode 23: How To Stop An Exploding Man.

Heroes season one just wrapped up. 23 episodes later, I'm still hooked. Aside from the superb plot and killer twists every episode, what's not to love about the cast?

The finale was fab. I got a bit teary-eyed after the climax. Seeing all the heroes converge in front of the Kirby Plaza to save humanity (yes, melodrama at its best), a girl can only take so much. I just had to savor the moment.

So now, I'm putting into words the thoughts I had after watching the finale. I'm not much into speculating -- I'd rather discuss stuff in person, but since the finale left me hanging, I'm doing this now and throwing my un-speculating self out of the window.

I can't believe I can loathe Sylar even more! Nakakagigil! And because of that, he is one of my favorite villains ever! I just want to stop his path of destruction (oooooooooh... scary...) and finally when Hiro stabbed him, I was so elated. But... why? Why were they so caught up in the events that they didn't notice him escaping? Argh!

It's probably because no one's a better villain that Sylar.

And I blame his mom. A president, huh? He was ready to be "normal" but nooooooo... His mom insisted that he was very special and that he could be whatever he wanted to be. Thanks mommy, that's what we all want: to encourage the bad guy.

Linderman dead (is he really?). Now, I didn't see that coming... All this talk about Linderman before and all the build up, I thought he would last long in the series and he would play a vital role in the future episodes.

I really pity Ted. It's not his fault that he had such a destructive power. I was touched that when he was taken into custody, he expressed his wish that he wanted to be imprisoned in a cell where he can't hurt anyone accidentally. I really feel sorry for his character. His wife had cancer and eventually died and he was deemed as a terrorist for so long. And now he's dead because Sylar wanted his power.

Are the Petrelli brothers dead? Not Peter, I think. He has the best power among the heroes. And he has the power to stop Sylar. If Sylar is alive, then I'm pretty sure he is too.

Okay! Questions!

Peter can fly right? Then why not use his power to fly so that Nathan doesn't have to risk his life flying with him?

Can't a hero use two powers at the same time (flying and being nuclear in Peter's case)?

IF Peter is still alive, can he now control his power so that he cannot be a threat again and go off as a bomb in the future?

Is Candice dead? Sayang ang power niya, it's super useful. Di pa nakuha ni Peter, if ever.

Who is the scary villain that Molly sees when she was "scrying"? A new hero perhaps? Or is it a character we already know but we tend to overlook?

I would like to see more of the lives of the older generation in season two. Like Simone's father, Hiro's father, the parents of Nathan and Peter, and of course, Linderman. What was it that made their paths cross? Who was the villain before? Is he the one that Molly is really scared of now?

Whatever season two has in store, I'm sure I will still love every episode. I just can't get enough of this show! I will ship Peter/Claire, if only Peter isn't her uncle! Haha! I still love Hiro with all my heart, from his cute "Yatta!" signature shout to his wobbly cheeks.

Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum

Ahoy there!

Last Friday, members of the New Worlds Alliance were invited by the Captain of the Black Pearl Philippines for a party, pirate-style.

It is known as the Pirate Con, also, The Dalma Initiative. Haha! We watched "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End", of course! NWA members almost filled half of the theater. And some members of the crew arrived in costume. And that is what I call geeky dedication!

Oh, I was a wee bit disappointed with the movie. There were scenes that I feel, the film is better off without. Some scenes were OTT, and it seemed that there was a lot going on in this film. But well, PotC is PotC... Pirates still kick ass, the effects are still superb, there are still many LOL scenes, and the actors are still sigh-worthy.

We went to Big Sky Mind afterwards for more yo ho ho and a bottle of rum! Yay, par-tay! ~~I really~~ We really had a blast!

A New Idol Sparks

It was a tight battle. We all asked the question: who would America vote?

The talent was easy to spot, Jordin nailed it on her third performance last night, but Blake was a better showman.

The finale was two hours long and I can't hardly wait for the announcement of this season's new Idol. There were so many songs tonight, but what I enjoyed most were the idols' performances.

It's great to see the previous idols (Kelly, Ruben, Carrie, and Taylor) together in one stage. And I still don't like Taylor. Kelly sang her new single, "Never Again." Carrie sang my fave "I'll Stand By You." Ruben sang a duet with Jordin. Taylor sang his new single -- I dunno the title and I'm not interested to know.

I was about 80% sure that Blake would win because of his fanbase. Even in the Kodak Theater, there were more screams for Blake than there was for Jordin. Also, the voters aren't that reliable when it comes to choosing the person to eliminate. So I was pretty scared for Jordin...
I have to hand it to Blake, though. He's a true gentleman. Even with the majority of the judges being so transparent on rooting for Jordin, he still gave it his all. I'm pretty sure he will have a career after this, he does have a lot of fans and there's still his originality with the beatboxing thing.

The record-breaking votes say that talent is more important than the performance. And with this, the sixth season of American Idol ceases and Jordin Sparks wins!

At 3:30AM kanina, nag-brownout. At dahil sa sobrang init, nagising ako.

Even if I were lying still, tagaktak ang pawis ko. I was silently cursing Meralco. Ang init talaga. Sobra!

I would have welcomed a ghostly apparation para lang magkaroon ng "gust of cold wind." (Yes, I was that hopeless and hot.) Buti na lang nakatulog ako ulit. Di ko alam kung pano.

Pero anyway, yesterday, we watched Shrek 3. Cute movie. And as usual, hilarious. But I think I had more laughs when I watched Shrek 2. But still, if you liked the previous Shrek films, go watch this one.

I just finished reading Book One of the Bartimaeus Trilogy: The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud. I'm currently reading the second book in the trilogy. I think I found a new love. Magaling magsulat si Stroud. The story has a lot of twists, and every page is a challenge to your imagination. There are many laugh out loud lines there too, especially with Bartimaeus's footnotes. I can't help but admire and love Bartimaeus, and most of the time, I tend to disagree and dislike Nathaniel -- the main magician in the book. But you can't blame the kid din naman, he's had a rough childhood.

I love weekends and last weekend was no exception.

My sister's college friend, ate Lau -- a nurse in Chicago, is back here in Manila. And since ate Lau is one of the pioneers of The Philippine Tolkien Society (TPTS), the Hobbits of TPTS just had to par-tay! Pictures here!

No Hobbit party is complete without food (of course, red hotdog for ate Lau) and the Return of the King Extended Edition! We also played charades, Middle-Earth style, after watching RotK.

Before marching on to the Hobbit Party, my sister and I dropped by Expo Centro for The Gathering: the 1st Hobbiworx TAGCOM Convention because the New Worlds Alliance (NWA) was invited there. We stood there in our Hogwarts robes, handing out flyers for the Book 7 reservation. Everyone we approached said, "Sayang, nakapagpa-reserve na ako". Your loss, mate! Walang 10% discount sa ibang bookstores and wala na rin ang chance mo to win a replica of Harry's wand! Bleh.

Ang cool talaga tignan ng mga stormtroopers and the Jedi knights! Since it was mostly an animé convention, there were cosplayers too. Di ko man kilala ang characters, natuwa naman ako sa costumes nila.

I have never been this visible in NWA events. Iba pala feeling na mas lalong dumarami ang kakilala mo. Before, most people from NWA were only familar faces, and now, parang acquaintances na ang turing ko sa karamihan.

And because my weekend was geeky, I purchased geeky button pins!

After seeing the first movie... So that was like, what? Almost six years? Woah. Obsession.

Because Rowling is a genius. She created this fictional world where I wish I belonged in. And of course, there's Dan Radcliffe. *woot*

3. DO YOU COLLECT HARRY POTTER MERCHANDISE? IF YES, WHAT IS YOUR FAVE MERCHANDISE AND WHAT IS YOUR WEIRDEST/MOST UNUSUAL ONE?
Yes, I do. I think I have 300+ items in my room. My fave merch? OH. EM. GEE. It's too hard to decide... Er--- it would be three things: the Gryffindor robes my sis gave me for my 19th birthday, the Gryffindor shirt/jersey my best friend gave me for my 18th birthday, and the official Goblet of Fire poster from Warner Bros. that I won from Fudge magazine... The most unusual merch would be the Harry Potter Band-Aids I own. Hahaha! They're so cute!

Honestly, yes. Everybody knows that. I have gained a lot of friends because of my love for Harry. I became a geek. I have loved books ever since but Harry made me interested in reading sci-fi/fantasy books more. I don't care about wearing costumes in public anymore. It made me realize that I'm lucky to have a family and to cherish my friends, the real magic in my life (crap, ang drama). My senses are keen on finding HP merchandise like I have this HP radar or something (OMG. I'm a hero!). I'm not kidding, ask my friends. :) And because of that ability, I am now broke. Hahahaha!

THE MOVIES

11. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE IN THE SERIES?
GoF or PoA, I can't choose. Columbus was a bit bland. Peace Chris Columbus fans! :)

12. WHAT SCENE DO YOU MOST LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE 5TH MOVIE?
the DA scenes, the escape of the Weasley twins, Snape's worst memory (yay! young!Marauders), and the MoM climax (omgz! Sirius!), and every scene where Harry, Luna, Tonks, and Umbridge own the screen... And the last 20 minutes of 3D love at IMAX! So that means I'm looking forward to all the scenes in the movie! Hahaha!

13. WHICH CHARACTER DO YOU MOST WANT TO SEE IN THE 5TH MOVIE?
LUNA!!! You go Evanna! So far, I love her in the photos and in the trailer/sneak peeks. I think it's a real advantage when they cast REAL HP fans (not like those people who were forced by their fathers, and because they just wanted to shop in London that's why they attended the casting *ehem*), at least they really know the characters. There's also Umbridge who, I think, will be the heart of the movie. Tonks, because I love Tonks. And of course, Bellatrix... Why? Come on! It's Helena Bonham Carter!

14. WILL YOU BE REREADING THE 5TH BOOK BEFORE THE MOVIE COMES OUT?
I'm already rereading it... :)

15. WHAT HP MOVIE HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOST NUMBER OF TIMES IN THE CINEMAS?
Chamber of Secrets. Why? Er--- I dunno myself. I think that was the time where friends kept inviting me to see the movie. And of course, how can I resist?

THE BOOKS

16. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK IN THE SERIES?
PoA and HBP. PoA, because it was more of an emotional book. It was when Harry knew that he had a family. And that was the book when Harry didn't come face to face with Voldie. So for once, he felt like a normal (?) boy, and that was what he really wanted, right? And HBP because every scene was action-packed. :) And I cried to sleep because of Lolo Albus. Teehee.

17. WHICH BOOK TITLE IS YOUR FAVORITE?
"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". Because it has the word 'phoenix'. Haha! Babaw.

18. WHICH COVER ART DO YOU THINK IS COOLEST?
the Ukrainian HBP cover. It's breath-taking!

19. ANY COMMENTS ON THE COVER OF THE 7TH BOOK?
I like the US cover more. I saw the unveiling of the cover on the 'Today' show and I was like: "this is really it!"

20. WILL YOU BE ATTENDING A MIDNIGHT BOOK LAUNCH?
It's not really a 'midnight' launch, but it still is a launch party. Punta kayo HP fans sa Launch Party! The location: Fully Booked at Serendra, The Fort. It will open at 7:00am. Whooo! Exciting!

21. WILL YOU BE REREADING BOOKS 1-6 BEFORE JULY 21 APPROACHES?
Not really books 1-6. I'll probably read book 6 to refresh my memory...

22. WHAT BOOK IN THE SERIES HAVE YOU READ THE MOST?
I think it's either GoF or OotP. I've lost count on how many times I've read and reread each book.

23. IS SNAPE GOOD OR BAD?
Good. Why? Because Dumbledore trusts him and that's good enough for me. Dumbledore's girl through and through yata 'to!

24. WILL HOGWARTS STAY OPEN OR WILL IT CLOSE?
It will stay open. Kawawa naman ang ibang students, di ba? There's still Dumbledore. Remember, as long as there are still people that support him, he will always be at Hogwarts. :)

25. DO YOU THINK THE 7TH BOOK HOLDS THE ANSWERS TO THE MYSTERIES PREVIOUSLY GIVEN BY JK ROWLING IN THE LAST 6 BOOKS?
It should... Hahaha!

26. WHO DO YOU THIK WILL DIE: HARRY, VOLDEMORT, OR BOTH?
The million-galleon question, eh? I think Voldie will die. Or maybe both of them. I really don't know, it's hard to read JK's hints. :) I think many young fans will be greatly disappointed if Harry dies... So it's either Voldie dies or they both die.

27. WHO DO YOU THINK WILL DIE IN THE LAST BOOK (EXCEPT FOR YOUR ANSWER IN NUMBER 26)?
A member of the Weasley family. Molly or Arthur, I think. Because I have a strong feeling that Percy the git will amend after one of his parents die. And I remember Molly's boggart, so I think it will greatly affect the Order if Arthur dies.

28. DO YOU THINK THAT HARRY IS THE 7TH HORCRUX?
More speculations! :) I think so, I think that he's the last horcrux. I remember reading in book 6 that when Voldie entered the Potter's house that certain Hallow's eve, he still hasn't completed his seven horcruxes. And at that night, he disappeared and he had no body. So when did he make his seventh horcrux then? But still... I might (most likely) be wrong, though.

29. WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL YOU FEEL AFTER READING THE LAST BOOK?
uh... That's hard... Probably, sad. My life has ended! Hahahahaha! And happy, because I have been a part of Harry's journey and JK's journey to riches... Yaaarrrh! Haha, kidding. She deserves every bit of it, anyway. As I've always said, the end will be bittersweet for me.

A Day at Fandom Café

Yesterday was one of the best days of my summer. We spent the afternoon at the Fandom Café, the ultimate tambayan for the members of the New Worlds Alliance (NWA). I met up with members of Pinoy Harry Potter (PHP), and paid the reservation fee for our copy of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".

We played the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (yeah, old school!) trivia game, with the first movie as our background. I was reluctant to join at first because the topic is about the first book. I haven't read the book in, what, a couple of years? I almost won, though. With emphasis on 'almost'. Hahaha! We played Harry Potter UNO after the trivia game. Wheeee! Good, clean fun!

And I'm going to watch "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" with fellow PHP-ers at Shangri-la mall for free! Yay! You might catch us there in our Hogwarts robes, we will be roaming the mall on July 11 (probably, but the details regarding this aren't finalized yet).

We watched a few scenes and trailers from "Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End," "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," and of course, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix." The clips released the fangirls inside us. Mwehehe. And oh, Will Turner was there! Believe me, he dropped by at Fandom Café! Hahaha!

We were all laughing so hard, because a fellow NWA-er was talking about Harry's wand. *wink*wink* We were discussing about "Heroes" and the third season of "LOST", and everyone was excited about the upcoming 5th Science-Fiction and Fantasy Convention, the last HP book and the 5th HP movie. Whew. July is a busy, busy month!

A friend gave us Heroes Episode 18-20 and another friend promised us LOST Season 3 next week. OMG! Heaven!

It was a simple gathering, there was nothing special about the date, and yet, hanging out with the people who have the same interests (and the same level of enthusiasm) as I do makes me feel... happy.

And on our way home from the Café, I saw a poster on Greenbelt 3 announcing that...
Nigel Barker will visit Manila! He'll be at the Greenbelt 3 Park on May 10 at 7PM. I hope I could come!

Meanwhile, on the Dark Side, may duty ako bukas hanggang Wednesday. Boo. *gags* Ang bait kong future nurse di ba?
